And how you can start in 3 simple steps.

Welcome to the twelfth edition of the Minimalist Side Hustles newsletter.

We covered a different minimalist side hustle each week for the past 9 weeks, and today we finish by diving into minimalist web design.

I used to run my own web design agency and designed hundreds of websites, mostly using WordPress, but in 2020 I discovered Carrd.

It’s a much simpler, faster, and cheaper alternative that you can leverage.

What is minimalist web design?

Carrd is super easy to learn, and really cheap to use.

You can leverage it to make money building and hosting websites on it.

New small businesses are popping up around most cities and towns every month, and a lot of them don’t have websites because they think they can’t afford it.

That’s where you come in and show them they can afford it!

First, you need to understand your costs.

I would suggest you start with the Pro Plus plan on Carrd which includes 25 websites and all of the features, it’s $49 per year. (Less than $2 per website!)

Then you will need to add a domain name for each customer you get which is approximately $15 a year.

Aside from that the only other cost is your time to find the customers and to build the website in Carrd (which is quick if you use one of the included templates).

Now, how much should you charge?

That’s entirely up to you, but I would suggest you start lower and then slowly increase as you onboard customers and gain experience.

If you charge $50 per month per client, here’s how it breaks down:

• 25 Clients

• $15,000 Revenue

• $300 Costs

• $14,700 “Profit” (don’t forget your time)

Start doing minimalist web design in 3 easy steps.

1. Sign up for Carrd.
   You can use another website creation option, but I haven't found any as reliable, fast, and cheap as Carrd.

2. Create a website.
   Yes, I know you haven't found a customer yet, but choose a type of customer (i.e. a pizza restaurant) and create a fake website for it.

3. Find customers.
   Now go look for all the customers that could fit the website you created (i.e. pizza restaurants) who don't have a website (or as good of a website). Go show them (in person if possible, if not by email) the website you created and make them an offer.
